"Rick and his team are fabulous to work with! I had the pleasure of having him represent me long distance. He was easy to communicate with and gave detailed information about every step of my case. The firm responded to each of my phone calls, and emails in a very timely manner and answered all my questions with care and concern for me. He and his team care about your individual case and have your best interests in mind. Thank you for such a blessed experience!!!"

Rick Voytas, Attorney
Rick Voytas grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, in a family of five and graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School in 1995. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a Bright Flight Scholar and an Honors College Ambassador. He studied the classics, art history, philosophy, mathematics and business courses. Rick also learned blues guitar, enjoyed attending the Mizzou-Kansas “border war” sporting events, and played intramural basketball.
During college, Rick worked nights at a debt collection agency to earn money for school. He graduated in 1998 cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a finance emphasis. Rick was a Judge Roberts Scholar at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and won recognition for top-of-class performance in trial practice and ethics courses. He was a member of the Board of Advocates, an appellate litigator on the traveling moot court team, and a writer for the law journal. During law school, Rick played endurance sports and played summer league baseball.
Before graduating with his Juris Doctor in 2002, Rick published an article in the Securities Arbitration Commentator, which was the culmination of more than a year of research into whether brokers had an empirically observable advantage over consumers in the securities arbitration process. He passed the Missouri and Illinois bar exams, and served as a clerk at several law firms in St. Louis and Columbia.
Rick began his career at a large international law firm’s St. Louis office and learned trial practice from some of the brightest and most skilled lawyers in the field. Under their direction, he learned investigative techniques, drafted lawsuits, deposed witnesses, tried cases, and learned appellate practice. In 2006, Rick enrolled in night school at St. Louis University’s John Cook School of Business, completing his master’s degree in finance in 2007. He enjoys teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in business law, finance, economics, and mathematics. When his career as a trial lawyer comes to a close, Rick looks forward to teaching on a full-time basis.
In 2011, with enough knowledge and experience, Rick started his litigation-only practice. Since then, he has handled many jury trials and various appeals in state and federal courts. Rick has been fortunate to obtain millions of dollars for his clients. In 2017 and 2021, Martindale Hubbell awarded Rick their highest rating (“AV”) for his lawyering ability and ethical standards.
Rick spends his downtime with his family, enjoying outdoor activities and travel. He enjoys cycling and coaching youth sports. Rick is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and many federal District Courts throughout the country. When you hire Voytas Law, you will be dealing with Rick directly.
