A client came to us this past summer for an issue with a medical debt. A few years ago, our client had seen a medical provider for an elective medical service. Our client agreed to the pricing for this medical service with a single medical provider.
Without our client’s knowledge or consent, the medical provider involved a second medical facility, creating a bill for thousands of dollars. This second bill was then sent to a debt collector and the amount was listed on his credit report.
We sued the debt collector, as well as the original medical provider, for collecting on this invalid debt. We reached a settlement and the medical provider had to pay all of our attorney’s fees, compensate our client for damages, and eliminate the entry on our client’s credit report.
