Last year, a woman came to us because her employer had not paid her for all of the time she worked. Her former employer was a medical facility that required her to work more than forty hours a week without paying her time-and-a-half for the overtime hours.
When our client asked about not being paid for all of the hours she worked, the medical facility told the woman that she was on “salary” and was not eligible for overtime. This is illegal.
Though the medical facility gave our client the title of “manager,” she performed no managerial tasks. Her duties included answering phones and cleaning the office. Our client quit her job and came to us for help to recoup her full wages.
We filed a lawsuit against the medical facility and reached an agreement with them. The medical facility was required to pay our legal fees, all of our client’s unpaid wages, and an additional penalty for damages.
